Norwich City vs Swindon Town
October 24, 2009
Don't be fooled by City's 2-1 defeat at Leeds on Monday night.
Norwich were the better team for large parts of the match at
Elland Road and will be itching to bounce back against the
Robins on Saturday.
Paul Lambert has got the team playing with pride and passion
after a sorry start to the season and in Grant Holt they have a
striker who can score plenty of goals at this level. Most of the
players in the team are good enough to grace the Championship
and the chances are that they will be doing so next season.
Swindon have only lost two matches all season, although the
second of these came at home to Hartlepool on Saturday,
with Town not at the races. Six of the last eight matches that
they have played have resulted in a 1-1 draw, although the
team is short of a proven goalscorer and they might come
off second best in Norfolk this weekend.
Best odds for the Norwich win is 1.73
Prediction: Back Norwich @ 1.73
Colchester vs Walsall
October 24, 2009
Despite losing Paul Lambert to Norwich City just a few games
into the season, Colchester continue to show that their 7-1 win
at Carrow Road on the opening day of the season was by no
means a fluke. They have been especially impressive at the
Weston Homes Community Stadium this term, winning six
of their seven matches, and they should make it seven when
Walsall come to town. Since losing to Leeds at the end of
August, they have won three on the bounce at home, beating
Hartlepool, Charlton and Huddersfield without reply.
The Saddlers are what you might describe as an average
League One team, showing enough consistency to avoid
any trouble but lacking the quality to push for a top six place.
Since winning away to a beleaguered Tranmere team in the
middle of September, they have lost away to Hartlepool
and MK Dons and Chris Hutchings' team are unlikely to
avoid defeat here.
Best odds for the Colchester win is 1.73
Prediction: Back Colchester @ 1.73
Bristol Rovers vs Yeovil Town
October 24, 2009
It's something of a surprise to see the Pirates chalked up at
generous odds this weekend. After all, Paul Trollope's
team have had a strong start to the season, sitting in fifth
place despite having played a game less than most of the
other sides in the division. In addition, Rovers have only
played five of their twelve matches at the Memorial Stadium,
winning on three occasions including victories against Millwall
and Huddersfield. They should have enough in the tank to
beat Yeovil, with a home match finally arriving after nearly
a month on the road. Yeovil are situated in mid-table after
a modest start to the campaign, although they have yet to
win an away match in League One this season, so the away
victory is rendered as an unlikely outcome. They have drawn
three of their six matches on the road, drawing 0-0 at
Millwall and Oldham most recently. However, this
safety-first approach can only take them so far and it's
at home that Terry Skiverton's team will stay afloat this season.
Best odds for the Bristol Rovers win is 1.83
Prediction: Back Bristol Rovers @ 1.83
